Barcelona is legit like a magical world. Here are some spit fire reason why I love it so much! [Tag a friend who you’d want to go to Barcelona with.]👯‍♀️

It’s a Modernist’s playground with beautiful Gaudí structures. Check out the Gothic Quarter where brilliant minds like Picasso and, my personal favorite, Joan Miró used to hang out.

There are several gorgeous day trips to take right outside the city including Costa Brava and Tarragona.

It’s a VERY walkable city. In 2016 they implemented superblocks, a concept where roads form a 400 x 400 meter polygon and makes the most of public areas.

Their metro system is incredibly easy to navigate and is also pretty affordable.

It’s dripping with amazing Catalan culture. You must try Catalan food when traveling in Barcelona. It’s delicious!

If you’re struggling to pack your carry on for the holidays, don’t make it more complicated or stressful than it needs to be. Here are some quick-fire packing tips I use to keep things simple and light for myself.

▪️I try to pack lightweight fabrics that don’t weigh my suitcase nor myself down. Fabrics like nylon, cotton, and linen. And for winter. I’m a big fan of layering.

▪️This packing tip is essential for me: I mix and match my outfits and try them on ahead of time so that I know what works together and what makes me feel the most beautiful and confident.

▪️I keep my makeup minimal and only care the bare necessities. This goes for my skincare essentials as well.

▪️My last package hack: Packing one or two pairs of shoes that will go with every outfit is always a game changer for me. And I always travel in my heaviest pair.

A couple of years ago, I was supposed to meet a friend for a trip. We were coming from two different places, so we decided to meet there. Guess what happened? At the last minute, they couldn’t come.

It be like that sometimes. It happens. We all have full lives. And believe it or not, this has happened to me more than once. 😂Again, I don’t fault people, especially if it’s legitimate, but what I’m not gonna do is cancel on myself. I will straight up go alone. I can certainly have grave for others. Life can be so messy and it’s hard to juggle it all sometimes.

But don’t let that stop you. I don’t know who needs to hear this but go and eat all the food. Walk all the streets. Take all the pictures. And drink all the wine. You are strong and capable! I’m a firm believer in whatever you water will grow. So let’s water the garden of self-confidence, self-care, and courage. And leave that fear and other people’s projections behind! ❤️

3 incredible things to do in Savannah, Georgia! [Save this post and scroll to see the vibes Savannah is giving.]

Savannah is such a historic and gorgeous city in Georgia, about a 4 to 6 hour drive from Atlanta. Depending on the traffic and time of day you are traveling. There’s so much to do and see there.

🌆Visit one of the many historic Savannah sites. The city has a ton of beautiful historic homes and sites. For example, when you’re there, you can check out the first African Baptist church. It was an important stop on the Underground Railroad for slaves that were making their way north.

🍽Eat some delicious food. Savannah, Georgia is not short of some mouthwatering grub. Everything from classic Southern cuisine to the Times and Eater write up The Grey. One of my personal favorite spots is @thecollinsquarter!

🥃Enjoy a cocktail and unwind. And here I go talking about food and drinks again y’all. But no joke, the drinks in Savannah are 👏🏾*chefs kiss*. One of my favorite spots is @alleycatsavannah It’s moody, it’s dark, and it’s gosh darn good.

@skyscanner ruins my doggone budget like every other month. It’s ridiculous. But in all seriousness, Skyscanner is one of my favorite ways to find and compare cheap flights.

Here’s how I like to use the site and exactly how they be taking my money. This is great for when you don’t know exactly where you want to go, but you DO KNOW that you want the flight to be a) CHEAP and you have b) FLEXIBLE DATES. [SAVE THIS POST]

Go to Skyscanner.com and select your “from” destination. Then choose roundtrip or one way. For the “to” destination, where it says country, city, or airport I like to click the blue pop up that comes that says “Can’t decide where?” This will allow you to search everywhere. For your dates, click whole month and then cheapest month right at the top. And there you have it. Skyscanner will spit out a list of destinations with their starting price. Take a gander and see what you find.

Here’s another way I like to use Skyscanner on my phone. Download the Skyscanner app, open it, and tap the white button at the top left that says “Explore Everywhere.” Set your starting city and scroll through the list.

Raise your hand if you have been there and done that! Listen, I love my job but hooooney, what I wouldn’t give to be up out this piece and be permanently on the road. 😩 But hey, gotta do whatcha gotta do right. If you work full time but still want to find time to travel, here’s what I have found helpful for me. (SAVE THIS POST)

▪️Take advantage of PTO. Don’t let that precious paid time off go to waste. Make sure you optimize it as best as you can. More and more companies are moving remote and also doing unlimited PTO. All of this is great, but you still make sure you are using that time. I once read a study that showed that people with unlimited PTO end up taking significantly less time off than those with counted PTO days. Don’t let that be you!

▪️Staycations. I absolutely love staycations! And yes, I consider staycations travel. Enjoy your city and explore a part of town that you’ve never experienced before. Grab some friends and make a whole thing out of it!

▪️Microtrips. Microtrips are one of the easiest ways to travel—especially when you don’t have a lot of extra time to spare or want to travel, but don’t have a tons of coins to do it. I like to choose cities that are within an hour to four hour drive from my home city. Another great travel tip, is to find unique experiences in these nearby cities and go check them out. You’d be surprised what you find.

Listen, get that extra hour of sleep! It’s Daylight Saving Time and whether we like it or not, the days are getting shorter and shorter. So if you’re traveling during this time, how can this affect your trip?

🔸Make sure you’re double checking that you’re turning your clocks back or making sure that your device (phone, watch, tablet, etc) will go back automatically.

🔸If you’ve got a flight/train/bus in the morning, double check the point above and then double check your times in the morning to make sure you’re on time and if not, you can make a contingency plan to make sure you catch your flight on time.

🔸For all you new solo female travelers, since the days are getting shorter, for safety, you’ll want to make sure that you plan your arrival and departures to and from your trips when the sun is out.

Whew, my $75 baggage fees travel mistake, chiiiiiile, are y’all ready for this story time? 💸

One time, back when I was living in Spain, I was traveling from Barcelona to the States to see my family. I was so excited and really feeling myself cause I was flying with a budget airline and I snagged some hella cheap tickets. I mean, a new iPhone would have been 4X the price I paid for this trans-Atlantic ticket.

My bags were packed and I was ready to go. I got to the airport and during checkout all my joy had been sucked dry as the airline counter agent had to pry $75 out of my cold, stiff hands. All on some baggage fees. Smh. 🤦🏾‍♀️

Y’all, when I tell you that man did not care. Sometimes, it be like that.

Well, it turns out that I had failed to read the rules carefully and got caught with a surprise charge for my baggage.

Traveling with budget airlines can be great, especially for those of us on a budget. Am I right? But, if you don’t know what to look out for you could end up being slammed with extra fees (especially baggage fees) like I did. Never make assumptions and always read the fine print.
